Our Micros
Varieties we grow:
(more coming soon!)
Broccoli, and Salad Mix (The Brassica Family)
Both our broccoli and our salad mix (kale, kohlrabi, cabbage, arugula, and broccoli) are a very classic type of micro green.
They are all in the same plant family, which is why they all look so similar. Many in this family taste similar as well, with variations that make some sweeter, spicier, or earthier! You can usually get an idea of the flavor of any micro by thinking of its flavor as a mature plant/food.
For example, broccoli, kale, cabbage, and kohlrabi are all on the milder side, while arugula micros have the same peppery kick you'll find in full grown arugula. That being said, you may notice kohlrabi being on the sweeter side of the bunch, while kale is on the bitter side (in a good way), and cabbage could be described as a bit sharper than the rest, and wonderfully cabbage-y.
Sunflowers
Sunflowers are a fun micro that can be used as usual for a garnish or fresh addition to a dish, but they also make a particularly great healthy and tasty snack.
You can of course eat any microgreen as a snack, but the size of sunflower micros just makes them a perfect go-to snack! Their mild and slightly nutty flavor is refreshing and bright.
Peas
Peas are another of the larger micros that are great added to a meal, but also on their own! Their flavor is strong, but light, and is very similar to the flavor of raw shelling peas (english peas).
Fun fact: the entirety of any edible pea plant (excluding the non-edible sweet pea) is edible, and tastes like peas! The stems just get a bit tough as they grow, which is why they are the best in microgreen form.
